The concept of the Northbridge House was to create a long-term family home for the next 30 years. In simple terms, the construction involved building a three-level house, which required mass excavation for the lower level and rear ground floor and pool. The design and build drew a lot of inspiration from the clients’ time in Bali, which reflects the idea of creating a sanctuary for their three daughters.

Northbridge House Housing Excellence Award Judges Comments
The Judges’ comments on the Northbridge Residence as the winner of the 2017 MBA Excellence in Housing Award for the best Contract House between $2.5 and $3 million:
“This house incorporates great stonework inside and out, and the detailing at the junction between the stone and other materials is excellent. The use of large aluminium and glass sliding doors provides a very light and airy feel. The house is very well finished in all areas.”

This competition looked at the major urban infill project for land adjacent the St Leonards Station and Forum development, in close proximity to our office. Urban Harbour created a mixed use development of residential apartments, retail, entertainment, offices, communal and meditative public spaces and connections to surrounding areas.
